North Little Rock, AR – July 11, 2024 – Shorter College is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeffery W. Norfleet, II, as Interim President. While serving as Provost and Vice President, Dr. Norfleet displayed his ability to serve as a valued asset to the institution and demonstrated his commitment to the college’s mission and vision.
Dr. Norfleet has demonstrated his commitment to the college’s mission and vision, as well as his desire to meet the challenges that lie ahead. We believe that under his leadership, the future of the college will continue to shine brightly.
Prior to joining Shorter College, Dr. Norfleet served as the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies, and Director for the Quality Enhancement Plan at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. In these roles, he provided oversight for program and unit assessments, initiated, and coordinated strategic planning, as well as provided instruction and mentorship to graduate and doctoral students. Dr. Norfleet engaged multiple stakeholders across the University and external community to advance the University’s mission.
Prior to his service with Trevecca Nazarene University, Dr. Norfleet served at the Tennessee Board of Regents, the governing authority for Tennessee’s public two-year colleges, and as the Director of Academic Affairs for the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, the state higher education policy agency. In these roles, he supported the development of new academic programs for the public higher education institutions, coordinated off-campus instruction, guided the Tennessee Accreditation Network, as well as spearheaded the Black Male Success Initiative.
Dr. Norfleet earned his Bachelor of Science in Humanities and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Tennessee State University. He earned his Doctor of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice at Trevecca Nazarene University.
As Interim President, Dr. Norfleet will play a fundamental role in executing the mission and vision at Shorter College. Dr. Norfleet’s appointment highlights Shorter College’s commitment to “Your Path to Possible” for students and the community.
